New Delhi: HSBC Markit Purchasing Managers’ Index (PMI) – a headline index designed to measure the overall health of the manufacturing sector –climbed for the third month in February 2010 at 58.5 up from 57.6 in January 2010.
The rise in the index comes on the back of faster increases in new orders, output and employment. The data indicates that the increase is the most marked for a year-and-a-half and was supported by strong gains in domestic new orders.
The sector also witnessed increase in production levels and better global economic conditions.
