GRE
Managed by ETS (Educational Testing Service), the GRE Score is required for candidates seeking admission in a Masters Degree program in fields other than management.
The GRE score is valid for a period extending to 5 years but a fresh score demand after every 3 years can be insisted by premier colleges. The score is sent to 4 universities free of cost at the time of GRE exam and is charged for later.
The GRE forms are available at USEFI (U.S. Education Foundation in India) or can be downloaded from the website.


General GRE
The General GRE test is a computer adaptive test and the fees for the same is $160.
It is important to note that the General GRE can only be given Once in month and 5 times in a year and some universities averages the score if more that 1 test is given.
The Total score is out of 340 marks – Verbal: 170 with minimum scoring of 130 & Quantitative: 170with minimum scoring of 130. Additionally, Analytical Writing Assessment (AWA Essays) does not have a score but is scaled from 0 – 6.
The format of GRE is Verbal: 2 sections of 20 questions and 30 Minutes each, Quantitative: 2 sections of 20 questions and 35 minutes each and Analytical Writing Assessment: 2 Essays to be typed in 60 minutes respectively. The total time can be estimated at 190 minutes.
