Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT)
Managed by the ETS (Educational Testing Service), Graduate Management Aptitude Test, a computer adaptive test, is required for admission into a MBA Program abroad. The GMAT score is generally valid for 5 years but a fresh score demand after every 3 years can be insisted by premier colleges. The exam fees is $250 and the scores are sent to 5 universities by ETS free of cost at the time of exam and is charged for later. The forms are available at USEFI (U.S. Education Foundation in India) or they can be downloaded from the website.
It is important to notice that the GMAT can only be given once in a month and no more than 5 times in a year and universities averages the score if more that 1 test is given. The advantage GMAT scoring carries is that scores can be cancelled before coming out of the test, in case they do not touch the eligibility requirement.
The total score is out of 800 – Quantitative: 400 , Verbal: 400 & additionally, Analytical Writing Assessment (AWA Essays) are scaled from 0 – 6.
The format of the GMAT is
- Analytical Writing Assessment: Essay (Argument and Issue 1 Topic each) - 30 minutes each

Quantitative: Problem Solving & Data Sufficiency - 37 Questions and 75 minutes

Verbal: Sentence Correction & Critical Reasoning - 41 Questions and 75 minutes
There is a provision of rest break of 5 minutes between all the 3 sections. And the total test is expected to be completed by 4 hours.
