The Directorate of Technical Education (DTE), Maharashtra conducts a Centralized Admission Process for admissions to the 2 year full time MBA / MMS courses offered in affiliated universities in Maharashtra.

The first step for the admission process is to appear in the Maharashtra Common Entrance Test (MAH-CET) which is conducted in the month of February every year.

Further, one has to go through the Group Discussions and Personal Interviews in the month of May - June and Final Admissions take place in the month of July after the declaration of the Final Merit List by the Directorate of Technical Education (DTE), Maharashtra.

Cracking the MAH-CET - What it takes?       

The Admission Process

Stage 1: Aptitude Test (Written Test) It is a multiple choice test of 200 marks, consisting of 200 questions to be answered in 2.5 hours, with no negative marking for wrong responses.

The MAH- CET tests you in five areas:
1. Quantitative Ability (QA): A test of mathematical skills and problem solving ability covering topics like Number System, Profit & Loss, Percentages, Averages, Progression, Work, Speed, Geometry and Algebra.
2. Reasoning Ability: Analytical & Logical Reasoning (AR & LR): A test of analytical and logical skills through exercises, puzzles and deductive reasoning. Visual Reasoning: A test of ability to imagine elements and arrangements which exhibits ability to understand thought process.
3. Data Interpretation & Data Sufficiency (DI & DS): A test of ability to analyse and interpret specific information from Tables, Activity Charts, Bar Charts, Pie Charts and Graphs.
4. Verbal Ability & Verbal Reasoning (VA & VR): A test of English Usage which includes a test of Grammar, Vocabulary and Verbal reasoning.
5. Reading Comprehension (RC): A test of Reading Comprehension skills which contains a few passages followed by questions that check your comprehension of the ideas contained in the passage.

Stage 2: Personality Assessment
Group Discussion: A panel of judges evaluate your performance in a group, while discussing a topic of current importance. Candidate's stress management, time management, decision making skills and group behaviour are tested in a group discussion.

Personal Interview: This is the final frontier of the process wherein panellists judge the candidate's attitude for management studies and also validate past academic records, work experience and co-curricular achievements.

Eligibility Criteria:
The eligibility criteria for taking the MAH-CET is that the student should either be a graduate with minimum 50% marks or should be in the final year of graduation.

The following is the detailed Marking System for the Admission Process for admissions to the 2 year full time MBA / MMS courses offered in affiliated universities in Maharashtra:
MAH-CET (Written Test): 200 Marks
Group Discussion: 17 Marks
Personal Interviews: 17 Marks
Past Academic Records & Work Experience: 6 Marks
Total : 240 Marks

- MAH-CET is not divided into any sections and questions are spread across randomly in the entire paper.
