State Level Entrance Exam

There have been a number of states conducting their own MBA entrance exams across the country.

Maharashtra: Maharashtra-CET
Rajasthan: Rajasthan-CET
Gujarat: Gujarat-CET
Madhya Pradesh: Madhya Pradesh-CET

These tests are actually quite similar in terms of the course content and on the same lines as the National level B-School entrance exams. What differs is actually the difficulty level of the paper and the number of students taking up the test. In case of Maharashtra CET wherein students from outside the home state are also eligible to take the test the competition is much tougher when compared to a Gujarat CET wherein only home state students are eligible for the test.

Gujarat-CET
The Gujarat Common Entrance Test (GCET) was introduced for the first time in the year 2002 for admission to the Master of Business Administration (MBA) programmes conducted by the Universities in Gujarat State. Over the period it also takes care of admission to the MCA programme offered by universities in Gujarat. GCET from 2009 onwards moves to an online or computer based format wherein the students can take up exam in the slated period only.

The top colleges providing an MBA in Gujarat are
B.K. School of Business Management – Gujarat University, Ahmedabad
AES (HL) Post Graduate Institute of Business Management (HL–MBA) – Gujarat University, Ahmedabad
Som-Lalit Institute of Management Studies – Gujarat University, Ahmedabad
M.S.Patel Institute of Management Studies – M.S. University, Baroda
G. H. Patel Post Graduate Institute of Business Management – SPU, Vallabh Vidya Nagar
National Institute of Co-operatives management - Gandhinagar

From 2009 onwards the selection process has been made simpler and includes only a written test. The Written Test generally includes questions on Reading Comprehension, Language Proficiency, Numerical Ability, Data Analysis, Data Sufficiency, Critical Reasoning, Logical Reasoning, Psychological Aspects, General Knowledge and General Business Environment.
