Format of the Paper : Total Questions: 150, 3 sections

Total Questions: 150, 3 sections . Duration: 2 hours

Marking: +1 for Correct answer and -1/4 for incorrect answer.

Sectional Cut-offs: No but need to have some minimum score in all section

Section 1: Verbal Ability and Reading comprehension. (40 questions)

The section was a lot vocabulary driven with questions of vocab present even in RC.The section comprised of only one passage (containing 15 questions)  and most of the questions were direct and there were five questions of antonyms and synonyms of words used in RC. There was a cloze test with 10 fill in the blanks and some of the blanks were ambiguous as more than one answer seemed to be correct. 5 questions on grammar and 5 questions on vocabulary were there which were very simple and could be done very quickly. There was a Para jumble with 5 questions on it and this was the only speed breaker in this section. The section would have proved very lucrative with a reasonably good command over vocabulary as the vocabulary based questions demanded more of absolute understanding of the word meanings. Overall the section should have proved a cake walk for one who has a good vocabulary. An attempt of 34+ questions can be considered a good one and a net score of 25+ a good score.

Section 2: Intelligence and Logical Reasoning (50 questions)

This section was easy but time consuming. Specially the 5 questions on functions were lengthy and even syllogisms were a bit tricky. There were 10 questions based on coding and decoding , 5 on decision making 5 DS questions 5 on circular arrangement which were comparatively easy. Questions on blood-relations and arrangements of alphabets and numbers were there that needed a lot of concentration while solving. An ideal attempt in this section would be 35+ with a good score of 29+.

Section 3: Quantitative Ability and DI (60 questions)

Quantitative ability section was very similar to the last year’s paper. This section needed a lot of calculation. 15 to 20 questions were there on bodmas where some were sitters and some needed intense calculations. The speed breaker in this section was 5 questions based on series wherein we had to find the wrong number in the given series.4 sets of DI with 5 questions each were there which were simple but again calculative. So overall in this section one with a good speed and accuracy would have been able to attempt more questions. An ideal attempt in this section would be 48+ with a good score of 40+.

Total Questions: 135, 3 sections with 35 question each and 1 section with 30 question. Duration: 2 hours

Marking: 1/4th negative marks.

Sectional Cut-offs: Yes

Section 1: Verbal Ability and Reading comprehension.

PATTERN- 5 questions of 2 marks, 30 questions of 1 mark each.

The section tested the three pillars of language – Vocabulary, Grammar and Reading. The section comprised 3 passages (containing total 12 questions) 12 questions on grammar, 8 questions on Vocabulary, 1 question on C.R and 2 questions on sentence jumbling. The passages were simple and there were lot of direct questions which requires good reading skills. The section would have proved very lucrative for a person with reasonably good command over vocabulary. Grammar questions were again simple. Overall the section should have proved a cake walk for one who is well read and sensible. An attempt of 27+ questions can be considered a good one and a net score of 23+ a good score.

Section 2: Logical Reasoning

PATTERN- 30 questions of 2 mark each.

This section would be a decisive one in setting the cut-offs as almost all the variety of questions that tested one’s logic were asked. There were only 2 sets of three questions and rest all were independent questions, Hence it was time consuming. Couple of questions tested the knowledge of laws of physics which was a novelty in logic section. A good variety was covered wherein we could see questions on coding, direction sense, syllogisms, and ratio based series questions etc. An attempt of 25+ questions can be considered a good one and a net score of 36+ a good score.

Section 3: Quantitative Ability and Data Interpretation

PATTERN- 5 questions of 2 marks, 30 questions of 1 mark each.

Quantitative ability section was tougher than last year. There were two D.I sets which were very simple and had total 7 questions. There were almost 7-8 sitters and 4-5 questions were time consuming, so good selection of questions was required. Couple of questions were ambiguous like one based on inequality and other one was graph based. An attempt of 24+ questions can be considered a good one and a net score of 21+ a good score.

Section 4: General Awareness Section

PATTERN- 5 questions of 2 marks, 30 questions of 1 mark each.

This section had good varieties. Questions were based on science, business, politics, sports and geographical knowledge. An attempt of 24+ questions can be considered a good one and a net score of 14+ a good score.

Analysis : Section 1: Verbal Ability and Reading comprehension

Section 1: Verbal Ability and Reading comprehension.

The section did not bring about any surprise and it was a mixed bag of very predictable questions. The section tested the three pillars of language – Vocabulary, Grammar and Reading. The section comprised 3 passages (containing 4 questions each) 7 questions on grammar and 8 questions on Vocabulary and 3 questions on sentence jumbling. The passages were dense and some of questions were implied idea questions, which required a good understanding of the passage. The section would have proved very lucrative with a reasonably good command over vocabulary as the vocabulary based questions demanded more of absolute understanding of the word meanings. Grammar questions were again simple. Overall the section should have proved a cake walk for one who is well read and sensible. An attempt of 25+ questions can be considered a good one and a net score of 18+ a good score.

Section 2: Logical Reasoning

The only section that tested the mettle of the students was LR. This section would be a decisive one in setting the cut-offs as almost all the variety of questions that tested one’s logic were asked. The set where one was suppose to match the name of friends,
